NXP i.MX 8M Plus on the Debix Model A SBC

NXP's i.MX 8M Plus has exceptionally good power management, Image Signal Processor (ISP), Hardware Video Encoder and NPU (Neural Processing Unit) and offers two MIPI CSI-2 ports for connecting modern high quality low cost camera modules. It has strong open source support with upstream (Torvalds's tree) device tree for embedded Linux and appears on a variety of versatile but inexpensive SoMs and SBCs. Output voltage and output strength of GPIO pins can be set in software so loads of up to 20s mA can be driven directly and even if an output is accidentally shorted to ground current is limited and the chip is unharmed with NXP confirming that no magic smoke will escape 🙂😉 So what's the catch... to make full use of it with those camera modules you have to include their kernel drivers in the device tree and roll your own Linux...
