Gnusbuino
The Gnusbuino is an adaption of Michael Egger's gnusb that is (more or less) compatible with the Arduino environment. It uses the V-USB virtual USB driver from obdev.at instead of a dedicated USB chip (FTDI on the Arduino) - is thus a lot easier and cheaper to build oneself - very few components, single sided PCB… It has a bootloader and can programmed directly through USB. It can mimic many devices (like the USBasp AVR programmer or a standard USB-MIDI interface).

Concept
The Idea is to generate two squarewaves with two NAND-Gatters of a 4093 IC and use the other two NAND as an XOR stage. The two waveforms are then send as inputs to the XOR and we have a Ring Modulation. Best of it, it's all on just one 4093. The additional parts are also very easy.
Parts
- 1* 4093 IC
- 6* Resistors with same value in kOhm range (I've used 2.2k in the prototype, because i've just had 5 at hand)
- 3* capacitors around 100nF (can also be 80, 120, 150, you don't have to use up all 100nF from the storage at any price ;-) )
- 2* Potentiometers in kOhm range (100k in the Prototype, also not critical)
- 1* Battery Clip
- Battery
- Piezo Speaker or Jack connector or both
Schematics
The ingenious part of the schematics is the XOR made of two NAND (that's Uwe Schülers idea) over IC2C and IC2B and one Resistor to VCC on first NAND and another resistor to GND on the second NAND. The other two NANDs just create rectangles that you can tune with the potis. You can attach a Piezo or a jack connector on the pins P$1 and P$3 on the right. As Vcc anything from 3 - 15 V should work. I've just tried 9V so far, though.
Board
So far, only a through hole board exists. But I'm working on the pseudo SMD variant (no more drilling!).
