2003: Robotic Workshop for cultural and scientific originators, Romainmôtier

"September 2003: The dotcom boom is over. The economies of Europe and also Switzerland are in recession. A group of artists and scientists attend a meeting in the pilgrim’s hostel of the medieval monastery in Romainmôtier in the hills of the Swiss Jura. They are not interested in neoconservative ideas, as the traditional surroundings might suggest. They have rather come together to develop and discuss artistic projects and ideas in robotics. There is talk of flower pots moving autonomously, of a robot skeleton, 3D animations, of the potential of a high-speed network or an artistic approach to artificial intelligence. During their discussions, a strange vehicle moves across the floor – it is investigating the surroundings and transmitting video images." - Dominik Landwehr

Do-it-yourself Musik als Workshop und Klangtag in Romainmôtier (NE)

Selbst gemachte elektronische Musikinstrumente stehen im Mittelpunkt eines Workshop und einer öffentlichen Präsentation im L?arc im mittelalterlichen Städtchen Romainmôtier. Das Projekt HOME MADE ? Labor für Musik und Medien ? präsentiert wichtige Exponenten der Do-it-yourself Szene, zeigt ihre historischen Wurzeln und reflektiert über die Bedeutung dieses Phänomen. HOME MADE (www.homemade-labor.ch) wird vom Migros-Kulturprozent konzipiert und realisiert.

Do it yourself! ? Gerade in der elektronischen Musik eine immer wieder neu zu entdeckende Notwendigkeit! ? Künstlerinnen und Künstler, Musiker und weitere neugierige Zeitgenossen bauen eigene Musikinstrumente oder verändern bestehende Geräte, knacken den hartnäckigsten Maschinen-Code und erweitern ihr elektrisch-elektronisches, magnetisches Sound-Können. Die Resultate sind vielfältig, manchmal einleuchtend, manchmal quer, oft überraschend und in jedem Fall klingend.
