Unter der Anleitung des Basler Soundtüftlers Flipfloater kann ein Delay Effektmodul basierend auf dem PT2399 Chip gelötet werden. Neben dem üblichen Delay Effekt ermöglicht die Schaltung dank 4 Circuit Bendings auch abgefahrene Klangräume. Der Workshop geht 2-3h,Kosten: CHF 50 pro Teilnehmer

Claudia hat sich die letzten zwei Jahre mit Haushaltschemie beschäftigt, und bietet einen kleinen Workshop zum Thema Flüssigwaschmittel selber herstellen.

===PewPew game consoles - Christian Walther and Radomir Dopieralski (Sa 31.08 & So 01.09)===
Did you always want to make a computer game, but could never get through those complex tutorials? Now is your chance to become a full-stack game developer. We will take you through the process step by step, starting with constructing your game console, up to a finished game. Just bring your laptop with a micro-USB cable. (It will also help if you install the Mu editor from http://codewith.mu/.) We welcome all participants of at least 12 years of age, no experience with Python or electronics required.

The workshop can take from 2 to 4 hours, costs CHF 10.-

A workshop where participants will build small electro-mechanical solo drum machines from single DC motors and small circuit boards. The workshop will experiment with different kinds of sounding materials (metal pieces, stones, springs, paper, etc), where the machines will oscillate freely and develop their own individual sound quality. Once built the machines will be used to explore fundamental musical structures.

Kleine Motoren, die schlagende oder rotierende Bewegungen generieren, werden in ein Gerüst aus Tonkinstäben integriert und mit Kontaktmikrofonen und kleinen Lautsprechern verstärkt. Das Ergebnis ist eine recht komplexe, expansive Struktur, die als autonome Mehrkanal-Klanginstallation präsentiert wird. Die Installation kann von den Besuchern aktiv bespielt und zudem mit den Maschinen, welche im Workshops "pulse & patterns" enstehen, erweitert werden.

The fear of losing control may be overwhelming, but the possibility of new conncections can be so rewarding.

Buttonspace is here to help show how IoT works on a basic level while aiming to become a platform where signals worldwide meet by chance and find further use elsewhere. Through buttons we illustrate how joyful and versatile this interconnectedness can be and how we can use it to our advantage to play, create and connect.

Christian Faubel und Ralf Schreiber arbeiten mit elektromechanischen Klangerzeugern: kleinen Motoren, Schlag- und Federwerken, autonomen Robotern und selbst schwingenden Saiten. Mit diesen Maschinen und Schaltungen, die häufig ihrer eigenen Logik folgen, versuchen sie Musik zu machen. Dabei werden die Maschinen und präparierte Materialien mithilfe kleinster Bewegungen und Interaktionen zum klingen gebracht und so die elementaren Wechselwirkungen von Ton und Material untersucht.

Andreas Oskar Hirsch is a Cologne based musician, visual artist and inventor of electroacoustic instruments. Among others, he performs with the Electric Palm Leaf or the Carbophone, a kind of complex super-kalimba. Both lend themselves to warm downbeat rhythms and odd tonalities. In combination with a bunch of effect pedals Hirsch creates a space somewhere between playful leftfield electronics and freestyle gamelan. Together with Patricia Koellges he runs makiphon, a label for experimental music which also features his latest album Early Carbophonics. For Flick the World he plays the "Schwanden Sessions" together with musicians from the SGMK community.

JUCE is an open source C++ framework for developing peformant, professional realtime Audio and Visual software. JUCE can be developed on OSX, Windows, or Linux Operating Systems and products built with JUCE can be deployed on OSX, iOS, Android, Windows, Linux, and Raspberry PI as standalone application or plugin (VST, AudioUnit, AAX, etc...)

Over the course of the week Kent will be researching the following 3 topics with the intent to build proof of concept imeplementations:

linecode is Jana Honegger & Kent Clelland.
'fixing the world starts with a muffin' is the title of their new improvisatory live set for visual music.
Performed with self programmed audio and video software, linecode incorporates elements of electronic ambient, dance, and experimental musics together with live generated video synthesis. By combining and collaging photographs and videos from both creative commons sources as well as self recorded / phototgraphed, linecode weaves an ever changing moving visual environment which is tightly integrated with the rhythmic, melodic, and timbral elements of the music.

linecode has been developing custom software for the OSX platform for over 20 years. The software with which they perform is developed completely in C / C++ / Objective-C and offers the duo possibilities which can only be achieved through custom software developments.

At the DIY gathering linecode will be presenting their WORK IN PROGRESS of ca. 60 minutes, trying out for the first time newly coded performance software developments and ideas towards a new visual music.

Autobiophonische Performance von Simon Berz

Simon Berz kreiert Sound-Reisen mit manipulierten Instrumenten. Das konventionelle Schlagzeug, das musikalische Rückgrat der Jazz-Tradition, hat Berz dekonstruiert, erweitert und ergänzt. Alltagsgegenstände geraten seinem Laboratorium zu überraschenden Klangkörpern, zu musikalischen Readymades.
Das Schlagzeug wird durch elektromagnetische Präparationen und Selfmadeinstrumenten erweitert. Berz sucht nach der Klanglichkeit der Materie am Drumset und dessen Umgebung. Auf der Spur der Töne nach dem Schlag, ohne auf die Kraft des Rhythmus zu verzichten, ist Berz Leidenschaft. „Schattenklänge“, welche rhythmisch verdichtet werden, umschreibt Berz seine Musik.

The DIY Gathering „Flick the World“ offers workshops for children and adults, an exhibition shows works from the network of SGMK and Dock18. There will be room for talks and performances in the evening. The DIY Gathering wants to connect the people from different scenes with science and art interested people.

===linecode - fixing the world starts with a muffin===

linecode is Jana Honegger & Kent Clelland.
'fixing the world starts with a muffin' is the title of their new improvisatory live set for visual music.
Performed with self programmed audio and video software, linecode incorporates elements of electronic ambient, dance, and experimental musics together with live generated video synthesis. By combining and collaging photographs and videos from both creative commons sources as well as self recorded / phototgraphed, linecode weaves an ever changing moving visual environment which is tightly integrated with the rhythmic, melodic, and timbral elements of the music.

linecode has been developing custom software for the OSX platform for over 20 years. The software with which they perform is developed completely in C / C++ / Objective-C and offers the duo possibilities which can only be achieved through custom software developments.

At the DIY gathering linecode will be presenting their WORK IN PROGRESS of ca. 60 minutes, trying out for the first time newly coded performance software developments and ideas towards a new visual music.

===Simon Berz - Rockingdesk===

Autobiophonische Performance von Simon Berz

Simon Berz kreiert Sound-Reisen mit manipulierten Instrumenten. Das konventionelle Schlagzeug, das musikalische Rückgrat der Jazz-Tradition, hat Berz dekonstruiert, erweitert und ergänzt. Alltagsgegenstände geraten seinem Laboratorium zu überraschenden Klangkörpern, zu musikalischen Readymades.
Das Schlagzeug wird durch elektromagnetische Präparationen und Selfmadeinstrumenten erweitert. Berz sucht nach der Klanglichkeit der Materie am Drumset und dessen Umgebung. Auf der Spur der Töne nach dem Schlag, ohne auf die Kraft des Rhythmus zu verzichten, ist Berz Leidenschaft. „Schattenklänge“, welche rhythmisch verdichtet werden, umschreibt Berz seine Musik.

Die POP Neuron Module sind eine Schaltung der Künstler Wolfgang Spahn und Christian Faubel, welche zum Aufbau eines künstlichen neuronalen Netzwerks verwendet werden können. Die von den Teilnehmenden gelöteten POP Neuronen ergeben miteinander verbunden eine interaktive audiovisuelle Installation. Das Netzerk kann mit weiteren Schaltungen und Sensoren ergänzt werden. Die SGMK lädt ein zum Experimentieren.

Auf spielerische Art und Weise sind auf einem Tisch LCD Displays und Gegenstände angeordnet. Bleistiftstriche führen von einem Gegenstand zu einem Nächsten. Berührt man die Punkte der Linienenden, so werden durch die Anwesenheit der Person die Displays aktiviert. Wir finden uns wieder inmitten eines allgegenwärtigen Spiels von elektrischen Feldern.

Divos' Arbeit schafft ein Unbehagen der Interpretation und fordert die Vorstellung von skulpturaler Subjektivität heraus: Die Objekte blasen sich auf und wechseln scheinbar launenhaft die Richtung, werden aber durch ein technisch präzises Computerprogramm gesteuert.

=== Ken Gubler - Particles ===

In dieser Installation werden BesucherInnen auf der Projektion am Boden erkannt und bilden ein Particle. Ein Particle alleine ist noch nichts, doch zwei oder mehr Particles können sich zu einem klingenden dynamischen System zusammenschliessen, das durch die Bewegungen der BesucherInnen beeinflusst wird.
